SUMMARY:Celebrating Justice In Justice
DESCRIPTION:Studios on the Park invites the community to join in this special opening celebration of the Justice In Justice exhibition at Studios on the Park. The evening's events include a documentary screening of Healing Justice at Park Cinemas\, the premiere of Justice In Justice at Studios on the Park and locally grown\, global eats for purchase from the Hungry Mother food truck.\n\n \n\nFILM\n\nThe evening begins at Park Cinemas at 6 pm with the screening of Healing Justice\, which explores the causes and consequences of the current North American justice system and its effect on marginalized communities. The film walks back through the history of violence that has led to our current system\, bringing into focus the histories of trauma on a personal\, interpersonal\, community\, and generational level. This powerful documentary addresses the school-to-prison pipeline\, the need for comprehensive criminal justice reform\, and the importance of healing and restorative practices.\n\nDesigned for dialogue\, Healing Justice is meant to prompt questions and open conversations\, exploring trauma\, justice\, and healing.\n\n \n\nPREMIERE\n\nAt 7 pm\, the community is invited to Studios on the Park for the premiere of Justice In Justice. In this exhibit\, artistic expressions illustrating the transactional nature of what the justice system imposes on the people caught up within it are juxtaposed with visuals of those ways in which justice is served by placing humanity within the context of seeking justice-in-justice.\n\nTogether with advisory and outreach support of Mauer Kunst Consulting's Henry A. J. Ramos and Frank de Jesus Acosta\, guest curators Heather and Kevin Mikelonis invited artists in all mediums to share compelling\, thought-provoking\, and fearless expressions on this theme. They hope that this resulting collection of works will serve to educate\, inspire\, remove fear and form bonds with one's own other. Perhaps even ask\, of what are we so afraid?\n\n \n\nDINNER\n\nTommy and Alli Stein are bringing their Hungry Mother food truck to the Studios front door with a dinner to nourish the body and feed the soul. Their ever-evolving menu is inspired by the seasonality and availability of fresh local produce in the bountiful Central Coast and features simple\, flavorful dishes with Asian spice and vivacity\, Southern warmth and West Coast balance.\n\nMenu:\n\nPig + Pineapple ... red oak-smoked pulled pork\, pineapple\, greens\, jasmine rice\, seaweed salad & hoisin\n\nTri-Tip Sandwich ... havarti\, pickles\, lemongrass remoulade\, sesame seed bun\n\nKorean Tacos ... corn tortillas\, gochujang\, ginger\, cilantro\, sesame & cucumber slaw with smoked pork or seared shrimp\n\nHungry Nachos ... tortilla chips\, carnitas\, cheddar\, black bean\, pico de gallo\, sour cream\, pickled jalape os & guacamole\n\nFarmer's Market Salad ... salad of the moment featuring seasonal\, local produce\n\nKids' Tacos ... corn tortillas\, cheddar\, smoked pork or black bean
