By planning carefully and taking health precautions both individually and collectively\, our community can work together to support safe student learning and growth using a hybrid model of instruction (a combination of in-person and distance learning. \n\n \n\nTune in for a live panel discussion with San Luis Obispo County's local health officer and local school officials regarding the expectations and challenges for when SLO County students return to the classroom\, and for tips for keeping classrooms open as we navigate this global pandemic.\n\n\n\nA question and answer session will follow the discussion. A recording of this webinar will be posted online with closed captioning in both English and Spanish the following business day. \n\n \nSpeakers\n\n\n\n\n\nPenny Borenstein\, MD\, MPH\n\nPublic Health Officer @County of San Luis Obispo\n\nAs the San Luis Obispo County Public Health Officer\, Dr. Penny Borenstein\, oversees activities that protect and promote healthy living for county residents and visitors. Dr. Borenstein received her MD from SUNY Health Sciences Center at Syracuse and her MPH from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and has been working in the medical field for more than 20 years in both the private and public sector. Dr. Borenstein is currently leading the county's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJames J. Brescia\, Ed.D.\n\nSan Luis Obispo County Superintendent of Schools @San Luis Obispo County Office of Education\n\nDr. Brescia is the current San Luis Obispo County Superintendent of Schools. James previously served as an interim superintendent of Paso Robles Public Schools and as a clinical faculty member at the College of Science and Mathematics School of Education at Cal Poly. James also served as the superintendent for Cayucos Elementary School District. Born in Lynwood\, California and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area\, James received an undergraduate degree and teaching credentials from the UC San Diego. His first teaching assignment was in the San Diego Unified School District. Dr. B\, as his university students call him\, completed an administrative services credential at Cal Poly\, San Luis Obispo\, and a doctorate at the University of California\, Santa Barbara and an additional graduate degree from Cal State Dominguez Hills. James served in various administrative assignments including an elementary\, middle & high school principal\, migrant education specialist\, and district superintendent.\n\n\n\nClick to Register
