2021 Vintage Wins Best of Class at the
2024 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition
Winning Best-of-Class in the 2024 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, Windward Vineyard is honored to add it’s 2021 Monopole Pinot Noir to their formidable list of Pinot Noir award winners.
Given the breadth of the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition – the largest wine competition of North American wines, and with over 7,000 entries. This massive number is whittled down to 172 best of class winners.
Marc Goldberg and Maggie D’Ambrosia purchased and planted their vineyard in 1989 based upon the terroir and microclimate of the Paso Robles’ Westside. Some were skeptical, and few knew it could and had been done with great success. This in combination with their deep passion for Burgundian-Style Pinot Noir led them to produce only this varietal for the past 30 years. The term “Monopole” is a Burgundian French term that means that they have total control over both the vineyard and the winemaking.
When you say ‘Pinot Noir’ in Paso Robles, you are saying Windward Vineyard. It is all they make.
