RE: State Route 46 and Highway US 101 Interchange
Dear Senator Laird,
The Paso Robles and Templeton Chamber of Commerce is deeply concerned about the intersection safety at State Highway 46 and US Highway 101. Currently, limited or damaged fencing allows pedestrians to cross the on-ramps and off-ramps, impeding traffic and increasing the risk of accidents. The current state of the fencing jeopardizes the safety of pedestrians and vehicle occupants.
As a primary gateway for the city of Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo County, this intersection experiences heavy vehicle and semi-truck traffic. The inadequate fencing has led to a uptick in pedestrian crossings on the highway, resulting in a rise in both pedestrian and vehicle accidents. Therefore, it is essential to collaborate on a solution to address this pressing issue.
We urge you to work with CalTrans and San Luis Obispo County, District 1 Supervisor, John Peschong, to repair and improve the fencing in this area. Proper fencing will reduce. pedestrian crossings and enhance public safety.
Thank you for your attention to this critical matter.
Sincerely,
Gina Fitzpatrick
