Support for AB 1008 - On-Sale General License Expansion

Dear Assemblymember Addis,

The Paso Robles and Templeton Chamber of Commerce fully supports your bill, AB 1008. We appreciate your dedication to the business community by providing the resources needed for local businesses to expand. AB 1008 authorizes the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) to issue up to ten additional on-sale general licenses in counties that have reached their limit.

Tourism is the primary economic driver in Paso Robles, Templeton, and the surrounding North County, significantly impacting the local economy. The limited availability of general liquor licenses has placed an undue burden on both existing and prospective businesses. AB 1008 addresses this issue and recalls the moment in 2014 when the county was allowed more licenses. Given our high volume of tourists and relatively low permanent population, our region's unique circumstances require a legislative solution that meets the demand for responsible alcohol services in dining establishments.

Increasing the availability of these permits will not only support our current businesses but also promote further economic growth, job creation, and tourism development. We appreciate your ongoing commitment to the economic and tourism prosperity of San Luis Obispo County, and we urge you to take swift action to advance this legislation.

Please feel free to reach out if we can provide additional insights or support.

Sincerely,

Gina Fitzpatrick
