City of Paso Robles Announces Planning Commission Public Hearing on Comprehensive Zoning Code Update

The City of Paso Robles Planning Commission is set to hold a public hearing to discuss the proposed comprehensive update to Title 21 of the Paso Robles Municipal Code, including amendments to the Zoning Map. This hearing will take place on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. in the Library Conference Center, located at 1000 Spring Street in Paso Robles.

The comprehensive update, identified as Rezone 23-02 (P23-0063), involves changes aimed at modernizing and improving the city's zoning regulations. Key highlights of the proposed updates include: 

  1. Providing intuitive and user-friendly development regulations; 
  2. Eliminating conflicts to create an internally consistent document; 
  3. Complying with recent legislation and case law; and
  4. Modernizing the Zoning Code to reflect best practices, with a focus on streamlining housing entitlement and permitting processes, plus providing for flexibility and innovation.

Ty Christensen, Chairperson of the Planning Commission, expressed his pride and satisfaction with the completion of project. "This zoning code overhaul is a testament to what we can achieve when we work together as a community. I am incredibly proud of the collaborative effort that has brought us to this point, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on our city's future." 

This project is city-initiated and aims to align the zoning code with the current needs and growth objectives of Paso Robles. The update also ensures compliance with state laws and enhances the overall efficiency of land use regulations. 

Residents who are unable to attend in person can livestream the meeting at www.prcity.com/youtube and provide live public comments via telephone by calling (805) 865-7276. The phone line will open just before the meeting starts. 

Written public comments can be submitted via email to planning@prcity.com or mailed to the Community Development Department at 1000 Spring Street, Paso Robles, CA 93446. Comments received by 12:00 noon on the day of the meeting will be included as an addendum to the agenda. 

For those wishing to review the project staff report, it will be available at the city library and on the city’s website (www.prcity.com/meetings) by Friday, August 9, 2024.
