Wine Harvest Intern
United Staffing Associates is partnering with a local wine cellar to hire a Wine Harvest Intern for the upcoming harvest season. This role supports daily cellar operations at a custom crush winery, providing hands-on experience from crush through barreling. The position focuses on executing a wide range of cellar tasks while maintaining strict adherence to safety, sanitation, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with fruit receiving, including unloading and processing incoming grapes
- Perform hand sorting and operate destemming equipment
- Support tank fermentation processes, including pump-overs and monitoring
- Conduct small-lot punch-down fermentations
- Assist with press operations during active fermentation periods
- Perform routine barrel maintenance, cleaning, and sanitation
- Operate a forklift safely to move fruit bins, equipment, and materials
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all winery safety protocols and quality standards
Qualifications
- Interest in winemaking, viticulture, or a related field
- Previous winery, cellar, or agricultural experience preferred
- Forklift experience or certification is a plus
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work for extended periods
- Willingness to work long hours, including weekends, during harvest
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Team-oriented mindset with a positive attitude
Schedule:
Up to 6 days per week, with shifts starting as early as 6:00 AM. Weekends and overtime may be required based on business needs.
Pay:
$17/hr
