Director of Membership & Business Development
Position Summary
The Paso Robles & Templeton Chamber of Commerce is seeking a dynamic, relationship-driven professional to lead membership growth, retention, and engagement efforts. The Director of Membership & Business Development serves as a key ambassador for the Chamber, building meaningful relationships with local businesses, identifying opportunities for growth, and ensuring members receive exceptional value from their Chamber investment.
This position combines strategic business development with hands-on member engagement, making it ideal for a professional who enjoys networking, sales, community building, and helping local businesses thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Membership Sales & Growth
- Develop and execute strategies to recruit new Chamber members.
- Conduct outreach to prospective businesses through networking, referrals, phone calls, email campaigns, and in-person visits.
- Meet or exceed monthly and annual membership growth goals.
- Present Chamber benefits and sponsorship opportunities to prospective members.
- Maintain an active pipeline of prospects and accurately track activity in the Chamber CRM.
Member Retention & Engagement
- Serve as the primary point of contact for member onboarding and engagement.
- Build strong relationships with existing members to ensure satisfaction and long-term retention.
- Conduct regular check-ins with members to identify needs, opportunities, and concerns.
- Develop strategies to increase member participation in Chamber programs, events, and committees.
- Monitor membership renewal trends and implement retention initiatives.
Business Development & Sponsorships

Identify opportunities for strategic partnerships and revenue generation.

Collaborate with Chamber leadership to develop sponsorship packages and member investment opportunities.

Assist in securing event sponsorships and strategic partnerships that support Chamber programs and initiatives

Connect businesses with Chamber resources, networking opportunities, and community programs.
Community Relations & Representation
- Represent the Chamber at networking events, ribbon cuttings, business visits, and community functions.
- Act as a visible and enthusiastic advocate for local businesses and economic vitality.
- Foster strong relationships with community leaders, business owners, elected officials, and partner organizations.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in business development, sales, membership management, account management, fundraising, or a related field.
- Excellent interpersonal, networking, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proven ability to meet sales, growth, or revenue goals.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
Preferred
- Experience working with chambers of commerce, nonprofits, business associations, or economic development organizations.
- Knowledge of the Paso Robles and Templeton business communities.
- Event sponsorship sales or partnership development experience.
