Spokes Announces New Class: Effectively Communicating Your Nonprofit’s Mission and Purpose

Training to Equip Attendees with Effective Messaging Techniques to Maximize Community Impact

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (April 16, 2024) Spokes, an organization providing resources to support and empower the nonprofit community, announces a new class, Effectively Communicating Your Nonprofit’s Mission and Purpose. Designed for nonprofit board leaders and executive directors, the online training will be held May 21 from 10 to 11 a.m.

Taught by Kellie Conn, an experienced organizational development professional and co-leader at People and Culture Leadership Group, Effectively Communicating Your Nonprofit’s Mission and Purpose will help nonprofit leaders teach their board, staff and volunteers how to create meaningful clarity in communicating their organization’s distinct purpose.

"By helping board members, staff, and volunteers develop personalized talking points in answering, 'What does your nonprofit do?', we simplify sharing the core message while also building impact by tying in their unique ‘story’ about why it's meaningful,” said Conn. “By conveying the organization's "what, whom, and why" in this personalized way, we magnify the effect of internal partners as authentic champions for the cause."

Attendees are asked to have their nonprofit’s mission statement on hand during the interactive, one-hour Zoom class, during which Conn will address overcoming mission statement challenges; the benefits of 30-second “elevator talks” to effectively tell the story; and how to tap into the unique “why,” of internal partners to build engagement and retention, among other topics.

Cost is $25 for Spokes members ($10 for each additional attendee from member organization) and $40 for nonmembers. For more information and to register, visit https://bit.ly/CommunicatingMissionandPurpose.
