Spokes Offers Spring Sessions of Nonprofit Board Officer Training 

Online trainings help nonprofit board officers understand responsibilities of leadership role

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (April 2, 2024) Spokes, an organization providing expert resources to empower the nonprofit community, will offer its spring sessions of Board Officer Training in April and May. 

The 90-minute online classes are designed to educate new, existing or prospective nonprofit board officers on the duty and responsibilities associated with the roles of president, secretary and treasurer. Spokes offers Board Officer Training twice each year.

Spokes will offer sessions specific to each role, as follows:

April 22: Role & Responsibilities of the Board President/Chair

April 29: Role & Responsibilities of the Board Secretary

May 06: Role & Responsibilities of the Board Treasurer

All sessions will take place from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

Spokes Board Officer Training is taught by local nonprofit leadership experts Michael Simkins, chief executive officer of Spokes, and Debby Nicklas, former vice president of the French Hospital Medical Foundation and past San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year.

"The success and sustainability of our nonprofits depends on solid leadership from their boards of directors," said Simkins. “We offer these bi-annual sessions to ensure incoming and current officers have the confidence and clarity to effectively fulfill the responsibilities and duties of their role, and ultimately enjoy a rewarding service experience.”
